LET’S TALK SCALP CARE

Did you know that a healthy scalp is essential for healthy hair growth? The scalp is the foundation for healthy hair, and if it's not in good condition, it can hinder hair growth and lead to other hair issues.

Learn how to keep your scalp healthy with tips from our founder and top dermatologist, Dr. Noreen Galaria.

KEEP A HAPPY SCALP
A healthy scalp is one that is free from dryness, inflammation, and excessive oiliness. A dry scalp can cause itching and flakiness, which can lead to hair breakage and slow hair growth. But surprisingly, an oily scalp can also be flaky and dry due to a condition known as seborrhea. Scalp build-up from these conditions may also get in the way of hair growth.

SCALP CARE TIPS
With a few changes to our hair care and washing habits, we can cultivate a healthy scalp environment conducive to growing hair:

  • Shampoo gently using sulfate-free shampoo and wait a few days in between shampooing to avoid drying out the scalp. If your scalp is oily, using a shampoo with zinc pyrithione in it, like Head & Shoulders, can be really good for controlling seborrhea.

  • Dr. Galaria always says remember that shampoo is meant for the scalp and roots of the hair while conditioner is more for the ends.

  • Massaging your scalp while we shampoo is an effective way to improve circulation.

  • Scalp exfoliation to remove build-up, while popular nowadays, has to be done delicately.

  • Handle wet hair with utmost care. Hair especially when wet is most delicate and prone to damage.

  • Maintain a healthy diet. A nutritous diet ensures that our scalp provides a fertile environment for hair to flourish.
