The $12 Hair Dye Madonna Used for Her New Muted Pastel Pink ‘Do
Ever the chameleon, Madonna is making headlines again for changing her look, but what’s most surprising isn’t her hair’s bright new blend of muted cotton candy pink and rose gold, but the price tag of the dye—it was only $12 and you can get it at Walmart!
Colorist Nicola Clarke, the longtime colorist of both Madge and Kate Moss, posted on Instagram that she turned the Queen of Pop a bold new shade using Virtue Labs Pro Color Kick to lift color without breakage, but the real kicker was her mixing in the Crazy Color Semi-Permanent Hair Color Cream in Candy Floss ($12) with her go-to Schwarzkopf blond shade.
“I foil highlight as many foils as I possibly can fit in, then high lift tint in between,” explained Clarke. “I love @schwarzkopfprouk blondes. I mixed and tested pinks of my own but ended up using a pre mixed @crazycolorltd candy floss it was soft, pretty and the perfect pink.”
Clarke is no stranger to the bubble gum pink look. She’s responsible for turning Cate Blanchett a pinky rose gold shade in 2016 and more famously bringing Kate Moss’s hair back to brown from an infamous pastel pink period for Versace in the 90s.
